Purchased from an Out-of-State Dealer
If you purchased your motor vehicle from an out-of-state dealer, you will need the following documents to complete your registration:
- Original Title or Manufactured Certificate of Origin
- Sales Invoice (Bill of Sale)
- Proof of Alabama Insurance
- Driver's License for each person on the title, if more than one owner
- Proof of Lee County Residency
- VIN Inspection Form - may be completed at any of our 3 offices of by a law enforcement representative
- Last registration, if available, or your tag number
- Credit Voucher Documentation, if applicable
Proof of Lee County Residency
Acceptable proof of Lee County residency includes:
- Alabama driver's license with current Lee County address
- Power bill
- Gas bill
- Lease agreement
- Homestead paperwork
- Deed
- Affidavit of residency
Additional Documentation
Additional documentation may be required for certain circumstances, including:
- Military exemptions
- Disability access parking
- A portion specialized license plates
- Other special registration situations
