Disability Access Parking

Alabama provides disability access parking placards and license plate decals for individuals with temporary or permanent disabilities, as well as certain organizations that provide transportation for individuals with disabilities.

Temporary Disability

Individuals with a temporary disability may receive a temporary disability access placard.

Permanent Disability

Individuals with a permanent disability who own a private passenger vehicle, including pickup trucks and recreational vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 12,000 pounds or less, may receive either:

Organizations

Organizations that provide transportation for individuals with disabilities may apply for a disability access license plate decal.

Obtaining a Placard or Decal for Someone Else

Power of Attorney is not required for another individual to obtain a disability access parking placard or decal on behalf of someone else, provided that:

Disability Parking Application

The Disability Parking Application must be properly completed and signed by the physician and the individual receiving the disability access parking privilege.
